Photography

Modeled by Holly Jones.
I wanted to create vintage style photos and poses that were natural. I wanted my photos to represent elegance and purity.

Edited on Adobe Photoshop and used for advertisement; Chanel, Covergirl and Miss Dior.

Flower print

This is an etching of a Lilly. I experimented with black and purple ink but also ripped tissue paper to only give part of the flower some colour.

Artist reference

Contextual research for my Natural Forms project.
I created lace flowers, placed plastic on top and then used yellow stitching around the edge.

Contextual research for my Natural Forms project.
I created the flowers by sewing them on the machine, I then scanned them onto the computer, created different sizes which made the wreath.

Autumn design

This design was created for the Natural forms project,  my inspiration was Michael Brennand-Wood and Kate Goldsworthy.
I used leaves on my design because I ended up being inspired by Autumn and its colours.
This is a black veil that falls to the floor, it has arm holes with leaves circling around the hem and also around the head acting as a wreath. Underneath is a black bodysuit with a statement belt around the waist.

Sketches

A quick sketch from my design book at home.

Sketches

This is taken from my sketch book when an idea comes to mind, I like to use pen, pencil, acrylic, watercolour, colour pencils- anything to get the effect I want for the design.

Wolf

Experimenting with different media. Applying powder paint to thicken the acrylic and to give it texture.

Tools: Paint brush and pallet knife.

The light box

The light box project: Having your own box to experiment with light and images for your chose theme (mine was the 60's era, only using black and white photos).

Advertisements

I chose my favourite three photos, which I created in Adobe Photoshop and then used to produce advertisements for Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch and Jack Wills.

Blue samples

These are experimentation's in textiles that were inspired by the sea.
The top contained a few effects such as; couching, fraying, ink and water colour.
The bottom was a woven piece which included brown, gold and different shades of blue.

Samples on swimwear

These were edited using Adobe Photoshop with the previous blue stitched/woven samples to create my own line of swimwear.

Imants Tillers

This artist was used as inspiration for my Natural Forms project but he became an influence on some off my dress designs. He is one of my favourite artists because he includes personal stories and hopes/dreams. The background image supports the emotive words he chooses, I like the fact that it creates a deep, meaningful piece of work reflecting from himself.

Imants Tillers inspired dresses

Inspired by Imants Tillers.

I used acrylic paint on calico and then I stitched onto acetate with the sewing machine to create the top layer of the garments- giving it more depth and detail.
Each dress was inspired by a different piece of his artwork, for instance:
(Starting from the left side)
1st desgin- 'Autumn Sun'
2nd design- 'Kangaroo Blank'
3rd design- 'Bonegilla
4th design- 'Thou Majestic'
5th design- 'Mosman Bay'

P.s The photo doesn't give the design any justice.

Obsession Mood board

Androgyny mood board

To express my ideas and thoughts about Androgyny I created a mood board, inspired mainly by the stereotypical images of gentleman during the 50's-60's period. Some of these images included smoking, gambling and the famous 'Rat Pack'.  During the 50's and 60's everything was very male orientated however over time women have become more dominant members of society and that shows the changes in women's fashion as we now wear leather and suits.

Androgyny design ideas

As outcomes of my research I designed three dresses, one of which I used to create the final product (3rd design). I experimented with the first one, (on the left hand-side)  it was edited and a background was placed behind to create a more vivid appeal, this was done on Adobe Photoshop.

Androgyny modelling

Modeled by Leanne Carrigan.

This is a dress that I re-created from a shirt and pencil skirt, which was purchased from a charity shop. The collars, the sleeves and the lining of buttons were taken off. The collars were placed on the waist of the skirt, acting as a belt. A strip was taken from the line of buttons and placed horizontally across the collar bone, so that a statement necklace can be attached to the dress.
The netting was taken form the underskirt of a prom dress and then split into 10 panels; which were placed in line and tacked at the top, holding them together. I then wove it around the bottom of the skirt, creating a fishtail.
This was my final outcome/product for my Androgyny project.
